Greetings! Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year. I am writing this December 20th
and it appears a brown Christmas is in order this year. After the many feet of snow that came early and
stayed late last winter and the prediction of a repeat performance this year, it was the consensus our backs are at the age
of where a walk behind 2 stage snow blower was in order to assist the 4 wheeler and blade. It sits in the shed patiently waiting
for some action. The family encouraged the purchase of a snow blower and teasing if we made the purchase, it would not snow.
Well, it’s snowless to date but the odds are high it will be used in 2012. Have you seen the Holidazzle parade?
We spent some time in downtown Minneapolis this holiday season. It was the first time we attended the Holidazzle
parade on the Nicollet Mall. The multi color LED lights on the floats, bikes, people, cars and anything
moving along the parade route were truly a spectacle. People started lining up in the skyways at 4 for
the 6:30 parade. It was a mild evening and people were lined up 6-8 deep on both sides of the mall.
It was so fun to see and hear the many children and children at heart. Thank you to all who take
time to decorate their homes for the holidays. It is such a treat to see the lights in the evening and truly helps create
a festive Christmas season. Hope you enjoy an Ole story….Happy New Year. Ole,
a furniture dealer decided to expand the line of furniture in his store, so he decided to go to Paris to see what he could
find. After arriving in Paris, he visited with some manufacturers and selected a line that he thought would sell well back
home. To celebrate the new acquisition, he decided to visit a small bistro and have a glass of wine. As he sat enjoying his
wine, he noticed that the small place was quite crowded, and that the other chair at his table was the only vacant seat in
the house. Before long, a very beautiful young Parisian girl came to his table; asked him something in French (which Ole couldn't
understand); so he motioned to the vacant chair and invited her to sit down. He tried to speak to her in English, but she
did not speak his language. After a couple of minutes of trying to communicate with her, he took a napkin and drew a picture
of a wine glass and showed it to her. She nodded, so he ordered a glass of wine for her. After sitting together at the table
for a while, he took another napkin, and drew a picture of a plate with food on it, and she nodded. They left the bistro and
found a quiet cafe that featured a small group playing romantic music. They ordered dinner....after which he took another
napkin and drew a picture of a couple dancing. She nodded, and they got up to dance. They danced until the cafe closed and
the band was packing up. Back at their table, the young lady took a napkin and drew a picture of a four-poster bed. To this
day, Ole has no idea how she figured out he was in the furniture business.
